To give an overview of two angle modulation methods (phase modulation
and frequency modulation).
Steps:
A very simplistic difference between phase and frequency modulation
is shown in this illustration.
A mathematical representation of phase modulation is obtained
and a definition of the modulation index b
is shown. The modulation index is independent of the frequency
of the modulating signal.
Similarly a mathematical definition of frequency modulation
can be obtained. This also has a modulation index b,
but in this case the modulation index depends on the frequency
of the modulating signal.
Summarises the differences between phase modulation and frequency
modulation.
